Shiva, a provider of IT solutions, announced today that it has been awarded a subcontract from HUD and Lockheed Martin to provide desktop and infrastructure support services for HITS. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Information Technology Service (HITS) contract requires 10-year support of nationwide, enterprise-wide information technology infrastructure services to assist HUD in meeting its strategic objectives and responsibilities.

Shiva will be directly responsible for:

• Defining and implement ing the HUD’s Standard Desktop XP COSACACS (Combined Operating System and Core Applications Configuration Set) to include ensuring Section 508 & 504 compliance
• Ensuring all hardware, firmware, drivers and software applications function seamlessly together
• Creating standard, hands-free install packages for all HUD core software applications as well as SMS packages to deploy software updates and patches
• Providing Tier-3 support for Tier-1 helpdesk and Tier-2 technicians
• Desktop configuration expertise including operating system optimization, hardware installation, software configuration and Active Directory Policy definitions

Some of the tools and technologies used for this effort will be: CERT, AVERT, Microsoft, McAfee, SMS push, network pull, Microsoft Installer (MSI), Wise Package Studio, VBScript, WinBatch, Visual Basic, Wise, Windows XP, Symantec Ghost 7.5 Enterprise, etc.

Through Shiva’s help, the key benefits to HUD across the enterprise will be:

• Streamlined desktop threat response with complete design, testing and migration of anti- virus and anti-spyware client delivery and configuration to E-Policy Orchestrator for managed desktop client
• Contributing towards attaining one of the fastest recorded Lockheed technical refresh cycles by creating HUD standard image adopted by Dell Computers for custom factory installation on customer equipment
• Maintained NIST and ISO 9000 standards in configuration set build, test and technical documentation

Shiva will deliver these services to Lockheed Martin and HUD in accordance with the highest technical and quality standards consistent with industry best practices and SEI’s Capability Maturity Model, HUD’s Enterprise Architecture, HUD’s SDM, and technical standards.
